On Monday the dates for this years' PAX Australia were announced. Having been to three PAX Australia's so far, I'd consider myself a veteran (of sorts). So here are my tips for enjoying PAX Down Under!
Planning is a must! Plan everything, from taking time off from work, accommendation, flights etc. to what you are doing each day of PAX. There is so much to do that some tough decisions must be made - go to this panel, or that booth to play a game? If you are going with friends, organise everything together.
Meet everyone! PAX is the friendiest place I have ever been to. Being an introvert, I know how hard it is to go up to people and talk to them. In my case, Twitch streamers. But every single one has taken the time to talk and appreciates you coming to say hi. So give it a go.
Don't forget the essentials! Eat, sleep, and wash. Seriously, this needs to be said. Take time for breakfast before the day starts, plan lunch somewhere, and dinner at night. Parting hard is all well and good, but it could harm the fun you'll have the next day. So sleep! And finally wash. You are going to be in close proximity to people, you are going to sweat - a lot! So keep clean, take deodorant and shower or bathe afterwards.
Have fun! This is the most important one. Whatever you are doing, whoever you are with, make sure it's fun. Don't stress on the small stuff - the things you forgot to pack, or stuff you didn't see. Live in the moment and who knows, you may be lucky enough to come back next year!
